I began practicing yoga while earning a Bachelors in Musical Arts, with a minor in philosophy, at the University of Oklahoma.
My body endured years of poor posture, especially after a rapid growth spurt my senior year of high school. My partner connected me with ‘Yoga with Adriene’ on YouTube, and simply moving my body in different ways, with intention, had a great impact instantly.
As time went by I began to notice changes in my mood, my mental outlook, the way I was processing my emotions, and my health overall. I continued to practice on and off for a while, while incorporating different strength modalities including resistance training.
Once I began working at Natural Grocers in 2017, I enrolled in my first 200-hour yoga teacher training with Becca Hewes at YogaLife. I was not interested in becoming a yoga teacher; I simply wanted to deepen my own practice and see what else yoga had to offer. I am truly thankful for the relationship Becca and I have cultivated over the years; she continues to help me in so many ways to this day.
After completing my training at YogaLife, I taught some classes at the OU Athletic Center, Space Yoga Studio, and other local gyms. I pursued another 200-hour teacher training with Andrew Eppler at Ashtanga Yoga, finishing at the start of the 2020 pandemic.
In March 2020 I enrolled in a 300-hour teacher training program at Sprit House Yoga with Ted Cox and Martha McQuaid. I have since completed their 300 hour program, and Martha has certified me in Thai Yoga Bodywork as well. The intellectual, physical and spiritual knowledge they have provide me has shaped who I have become and are the reasons why I have the courage to offer these services. I participated in their Conscious Living program in March 2024-2025 as well.
In January 2024 I traveled with my partner, a group of peers, and my teacher Martha to Thailand to study at the Fine Art of Thai Massage with Mac, Martha’s Thai Yoga Bodywork teacher. This immersive training and experience was one of my biggest sources of inspiration, and placed me on the path I currently follow.
I became an NSCA certified Personal Trainer in January 2025, graduated from The Mindful Massage Therapy Program in July 2025, and now offer services of Massage Therapy, Thai Yoga Bodywork, Yoga, and Personal Training.
While I love the physical aspects of all these services I participate in and offer, the philosophical and introspective aspects are how I continue to grow as a person. Doug Keller, in his book The Heart of the Yogi, states:
“‘Yoga’ is the experiencing, the verb; ‘Philosophy’ is the reflection that renders meaning.”
“Yoga ‘practice’ defines the discipline we use to refine that awareness.”
